MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- School City of Mishawaka approved Growing Together, a new preschool program, on Wednesday night.
The board hopes that by offering a preschool program it will help increase the school's enrollment.
The board hopes to be able to offer the program at Beiger, Hums, and Liberty Elementary schools.
Franki Bender, Preschool Coordinator for Growing Together Preschool, stated, "So research shows that students that are involved in early childhood program have more long-term success through K through 12. It also is a great transition point to help the students get familiar with the school. We service students with and without disabilities, so it's a really great opportunity to teach them this the kindergarten readiness skills that they will need before they transition to elementary school."
Enrollment will open March 15 for the new program at Mishawaka.
Parents can visit the Growing Together Preschool website to enroll.
