Grant applications open for urban forestry projects in Indiana
The Indiana Department of natural Resources announced grant applications are now open for urban forestry projects across the state.
DNR officials say fundable projects can include tree planting, tree inventories with management plans, urban tree canopy assessments, and storm response planning.
Officials say funds are awarded on a reimbursable basis and a one-to-one match is required.
Administered by the Indiana DNR Division of Forestry’s Community and Urban Forestry program, the funding is available through the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry program.
DNR officials add there are three grant opportunities available.
Officials explain applicants may apply for more than one grant but receiving funding for more than one is not guaranteed.

Applications are due September 4, and funding announcements will be made by October 4.
