South Shore Line

CHESTERTON, Ind. -- An exclusive week-long promotion celebrating grandparents and their grandchildren will take place from Aug. 10 through Aug. 16.

The South Shore Line has announced that grandparents can ride for free when accompanied by their grandchild(ren).

The promotion provides an opportunity for grandparents to spend time with their grandchildren while enjoying a comfortable trip on the SSL and explore countless destinations along the route.

“This promotion is our way of making it easier for families to create lasting memories together while experiencing the convenience and comfort of traveling by train,” said Amber Kettring, Manager of Customer Service and Communications for South Shore Line.

Grandparents must be accompanied by their grandchild to ride for free.

The grandchild must purchase a valid ticket or ride free, if eligible, under the SSL Kids Ride Free Program. Up to three children under the age of 13 can ride free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
