WARSAW, Ind. — Governor Braun attended the groundbreaking of a new training facility for the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters Wednesday.
Braun praised the $15 million facility, set to replace the current training station, which is more than 80 years old.
The council's Executive Secretary Treasurer, Matt McGriff, says the group has grown immensely, with more than 5,000 new members in the past three years.
He points to the influx of major manufacturing projects across the state of Indiana as one of the main reasons for growth.
Governor Braun also emphasized how important it is for communities to invest in younger generations, since they're the future of the Hoosier workforce.
The Governor hopes the state will be able to create a balance between students going to trade positions and moving on to colleges and universities.
