Governor Braun announces $200M for childcare vouchers
Indiana Governor Mike Braun INDIANAPOLIS -- On Tuesday, Indiana Governor Mike Braun announced a $200 million investment meant to expand affordable childcare, resuming enrolling children into the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF).
Pending a review from the State Budget Committee, the $200 million will go into the Financial Responsibility and Opportunity Growth (FROG) Fund to expand access to CCDF vouchers.
With the funding, Indiana will resume enrolling voucher-eligible children, prioritizing siblings of current voucher holders and children from ages five and below.
Exemptions are also planned to be created for homeless children and children of foster and kinship families, with special needs, of childcare workers, and of Ivy Tech students.
With this funding, Indiana plans on increasing the number of CCDF enrollments by 14,000 to a projected 57,000 enrollments.
