Gov. Whitmer orders flags to be lowered to half-staff for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

LANSING, Mich. -- Friday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered U.S. and Michigan flags in the state to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday to honor and remember the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

“Today, we remember the courage and bravery of our fellow Americans at Pearl Harbor and the more than 600,000 Michiganders who served in uniform during World War II,” said Whitmer. “This Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we honor those who sacrificed their lives to fight for our freedoms and recommit ourselves to moving forward together, no matter the challenges we face.”

Michigan residents, businesses, schools, local governments, and other organizations are encouraged to lower their flags to half-staff.
