Golf outing kicks off U93 Roofsit Week
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Radio Station U93 partnered with the non-profit 'Prevent Child Abuse Saint Joseph County' for the Roofsit Golf Outing today.
The event was held at Notre Dame Warren Golf Course to kick off Roofsit Week.
Roofsit started back in 1996 when two DJ's at U93 spent an entire week on a local business rooftop, hearing stories from local child abuse survivors, and taking in donations to help local groups fight back.
"What Prevent Child Abuse of St Joe county does is we do a lot of campaign messaging and literature and training for child abuse prevention programs, and with the fundraising, like we do with roofs every year, what we do, we are able to support various other organizations that do those very things, so they are on the front line dealing with This every single day," stated Manager of Events for Prevent Child Abuse of Saint Joseph County Deanie Kopac.
Even though today was the kickoff event, Roofsit week runs from June 16 through June 20.
