ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. --Girls on the Run Michiana hosted its annual 5k run Saturday in Elkhart. Over 400 girls and their supporters gathered at Trinity United Methodist Church to get active and promote kindness within the community.
Saturday marked the third year they've held the 5k in Elkhart.
There were two water stops and lots of spirit stations to encourage the girls along the way.
The girls were welcomed to run the whole thing, walk the distance or how Rochelle Day describes it, go at their own happy pace.
The race concluded with everyone receiving a medal as they crossed the finish line and a lively celebration featuring food and music, honoring the girls' hard work.
Girls on the run will host another 5k, this time in South Bend on Saturday, May 18th at Potawatomi Park. Registration is still open until the day of the race, but prices increase, so it's encouraged to sign up ahead either in person or online.
