Gearing up for the 11th annual Elkhart County Lemonade Day
BRISTOL, Ind.-- Families built lemonade stands in Bristol Monday, gearing up for Elkhart County's 11th annual Lemonade Day. Siblings Zoey and Troy Brooke built their first stand with their dad.
The pallets were donated by Utilimaster, which hosted families on Monday for the mini-event.
Lemonade Day, where Elkhart County students will set up their business stands in neighborhoods and parks, is June 7. Parents may still register their children for this free program.
"They Learn lessons about sharing some, saving some, and spending some," said Jessica Hilary, regional director of development for Junior Achievement and Lemonade Day. "Everything from how to find investors for their lemonade stand, they're learning about how to make a budget, they're learning how much to charge to actually make a profit, sometimes that can be a challenge. They're learning how to pay back their investors. They're just learning all the steps to running a business."
There are two other "mini-events" ahead of Lemonade Day:
Best Tasting Competition – May 20th at the Goshen Farmers Market (4:30-6pm): Participants can have local celebrity judges taste test their lemonade recipe for a chance to win prizes!
Shark Tank Pitch Competition – May 28th at JA BizTown (5:30-7:30pm): Young entrepreneurs will pitch their lemonade business plans to a panel of local "sharks" for valuable feedback and seed money.
