Gas leak reported on 12th Street in Mishawaka; public asked to avoid the area

ABC57 UPDATE: In an updated Facebook post, MFD officials said the closure is between Byrkit and Merrifield Avenue.
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Fire Department is urging people to avoid a stretch of 12th Street due to a gas leak.
Officials say a gas main was hit, which is causing natural gas to leak.
12th Street is closed between Byrkit Avenue and Beiger Street.
