Free fishing this weekend in Indiana

Indiana DNR

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Anglers young and old are encouraged to get out on the water this weekend and fish, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources says. Indiana’s free fishing weekend is June 7-8.

"Indiana residents don’t need a license or trout/salmon stamp to fish Indiana’s public waters (kids 17 and under are free)," the Indiana DNR said. "Many locations are hosting workshops, fishing derbies, prizes, and more. If you already have your license, consider introducing someone to fishing!"

To see what properties are hosting events, go to the DNR Calendar.

"If you enjoyed the Free Fishing Days, please consider purchasing a fishing license so you can fish throughout the entire year (license year is April 1 to March 31 of the following year)," the Indiana DNR said.

"License sales support research, habitat management, public access, fish stocking, and education programs."
