Former South Bend Mayor Buttigieg touring Midwest this week
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, U.S. Transportation Secretary and former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will make stops in Michigan and Indiana to highlight how infrastructure investments are strengthening rural communities, revitalizing domestic manufacturing, and supporting our national economy.
Buttigieg will start his trip with stops in Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he will visit three ports that are key to the regional economy and keep commodities, including agricultural products, moving throughout the Great Lakes region and beyond.
- Tuesday, July 30: Menominee, MI and Manitowoc, WI
- Wednesday, July 31: Milwaukee, WI
"Secretary Buttigieg’s Great Lakes ports tour will be followed by a visit to his home state of Indiana, where he will tour a construction site where a clean energy manufacturing facility will soon stand, creating more than 1,400 jobs in a central Indiana community," officials said. "The Secretary’s visit to this site will highlight how the rise in clean energy thanks to investments from the Biden-Harris Administration is reinvigorating manufacturing and creating jobs across the Upper Midwest."
The Indiana stop will be on Friday, Aug. 2, in Kokomo.
