Groundbreaking for phase two of ’The Cascade’
Rain showers were stubborn Tuesday morning across Michiana, and clouds took their time leaving the area Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The clouds and rain won't stay away for long. The forecast is trending towards a wet end to April, and a potential renewal of river flooding concerns.
As of Tuesday evening, the only river in any sort of flood stage is the St. Joseph River at Niles. However, that will likely change if multiple rounds of heavy rain move through again. And even though flooding is not currently a problem, most local rivers are running high.
Both of our long-range forecast models are hinting at not just a long stretch of April showers, but April soakers. Two to three inches of rain could fall in parts of Michiana by Tuesday of next week.
While exact timing and totals are still to be determined, the trend is clear: wet weather will be a mainstay of the forecast for a while.
