NILES, Mich. --- The first day of recreational sales at the ReLeaf Center in Niles was met with long lines and big crowds all day long.
The dispensary served a total of 330 people Thursday, selling $21,741 worth of marijuana products.
“It’s amazing. I’m just glad we’ve reached this point, its history really,” George Pittenturf said, a manager at the ReLeaf center.
Lines formed as early as 7 a.m. and lasted until 9 p.m. Many customers waited over two hours before getting inside the dispensary.
“You know I just had to try it out really. Good weed is a good thing. Anything good you gotta wait for,” Tyron Libertowski said, who waited in line for a few hours Thursday. “I hope it comes to Indiana next, if it comes to Indiana I’ll be happy with everything.”
There are a few important things to know if you have plans to come out here to ReLeaf.
You can’t buy more than two and a half ounces of marijuana flower at a time. For the time being, ReLeaf is limiting sales to just two grams per person to serve as many as they can. As for edibles, you’re limited to 10 milligrams per serving and 100 milligrams per total package.
All you need to make a purchase is a valid ID. It doesn’t have to be a Michigan ID as long as you’re over 21.
Of course, marijuana is still illegal in Indiana.
