Firefighters in Illinois rescue dog from 40-foot well 📸

Firefighters from multiple agencies rescued a dog from a 40 foot well on September 21 in Madison County, Illinois.

Rico the dog decided to take a walk to the neighbor’s house and accidentally fell into a 40 foot well, according to the Prairietown Fire Department.

Firefighters from Edwardsville arrived with their confined space and technical rescue team to help with the rescue.

Photos posted to the fire department's Facebook page show a firefighter rappelling down into the well to bring the dog back to safety. 

According to the fire department, Rico is doing well and was happy to see everyone once he was rescued.
