For the Love of Art Fair kicked off this weekend
NEW BUFFALO, Mich. -- A 10-year-old’s idea inspiring others across the nation to bring an end to breast cancer in honor of her mom who is a survivor.
It all started with one pink lemonade stand now becoming an annual national campaign challenging others to bring out their own pink lemonade stands in their hometown.
We spoke with Sophia Hood who is an intern of the non-profit and a family-friend of the founders of the Pink Lemonade Stand Challenge.
She says what better place than to bring the challenge home and to make it the first of its kind in New Buffalo and in Michigan.
The goal of the non-profit is to raise money for breast cancer research, raise awareness and engage the community in its mission.
The pink lemonade stand event will be taking place on Sunday, August 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in front of the Hidden Gem store in New Buffalo.
They will be giving away free lemonade, bracelets and cookies.
Donations are welcomed.
