SOUTH BEND, Ind. --  At approximately 2:30 am Saturday morning, south bend police officer was on patrol when he observed a vehicle make an abrupted turn onto Huey street from Elwood Avenue.  The vehicle then travelled on to Humboldt Street before turning into the alley between Huey and Elmer Street. 

The officer then noticed the driver's side door opening while still in motion, the vehicle then crashed into a tree and rolled onto its side. After the vehicle crashed officers located the driver pinned under the vehicle. 

The driver was ultimately pronounced deceased. The crash remains under investigation
