Fatal crash on US 20 in La Porte County being investigated

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - Deputies are investigating a fatal crash that happened on US 20 on Wednesday around 3:34 p.m., involving two vehicles.

Deputies responded to US 20, east of CR 525 West, in regard to a two-vehicle crash with injuries. 

Authorities say the initial on-scene investigation showed a 2023 Toyota passenger vehicle, driven by 59-year-old Charles A. Adams, of Seattle, Washington, was traveling westbound on US 20. 

A white 2022 Ram pickup truck, driven by 55-year-old Mark Burch, of Porter, Indiana, was also traveling westbound on US 20.

Officials say the vehicle driven by Adams crashed into the rear of Burch's vehicle.

According to documents, Adams' vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a ditch, and rolled several times before coming to rest. 

Adams was pronounced dead at the scene.  Burch was not injured during the crash.
