Colts QB charged with possession of marijuana

INDIANAPOLIS -- Earlier this month, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. was pulled over by a Carmel police officer over questions about his car's registration. That traffic stop turned into a marijuana possession when the officer smelled marijuana in Richardson's car.

Per ESPN, Richardson admitted to the officer that he had smoked marijuana in his car to avoid smoking it at home around his children. He was then asked to exit the vehicle and placed in handcuffs while the officers searched the Dodge Charger.

ESPN reported that a small amount of marijuana and 500-milligram THC-infused gummies were found in the glove compartment and confiscated by police.

Richardson wasn't arrested but was given a citation for the expired registration and a summons for possession of marijuana. Charges were filed on Monday with a bench trial scheduled for Jan. 4, 2027.

The Colts, according to ESPN, released a statement that said they were aware of the situation and were gathering information but did not have any further comments at the time.
