UPDATE: Police identify victim of Monday morning crash, cite weather conditions as contributing factor

UPDATE TWO: The St. Joseph County Police Department reports the deceased driver involved in Monday's crash at Lehman Street and Ash Road has been identified as 54-year-old Christopher Jacks of Osceola.

Police say the preliminary investigation determined Jacks was traveling north on Ash Road in a Honda Fit when he crossed the centerline, before colliding with a Ford F150 traveling south.

The Ford driver was uninjured.

Authorities say weather conditions may have contributed to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by SJC FACT.

UPDATE: The St. Joseph County Police Department announced at 10:50 a.m. that Ash Road is now open.

ORIGINAL STORY: ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Ash Road closed between Vistula Road and Jefferson Road after a fatal two-vehicle crash at the intersection with Lehman Street Monday morning, says the St. Joseph County Police Department.

The St. Joseph County Police responded to the intersection of Lehman Street and Ash Road after 6:35 a.m. Monday after a two-vehicle crash. When they arrived, the police confirmed one person died from the crash.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) has been called to investigate the crash, closing Ash Road between Vistula Road and Jefferson Road, and the department plans to release more information as it becomes available.
