Failure to yield leads to crash at S.R. 19 and C.R. 30, one sent to hospital

ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of S.R. 19 and C.R. 30 around 1:09 p.m., Thursday, for a two-vehicle crash.

The report states a 2016 Honda Accord, driven by 30-year-old Mandeep Kaur of Goshen, was traveling south on S.R. 19 before turning left onto C.R. 30.

Deputies say at the same time, a 2017 Mercedes GLE, driven by an 81-year-old Wakarusa man, was traveling north on S.R. 19.

Authorities say Kauer then failed to yield the right of way to the Mercedes while turning onto C.R. 30.

That's when the Mercedes struck the passenger's side of Kaur's Honda.

Kaur was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for complaints of chest pain. He was cited for Failure to Yield.

The Mercedes' driver suffered minor lacerations to his hand.
