Explore-A-Story returns with ¡Fiesta! A Festival of Colors at St. Joe County Public Library Nov. 2
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Joe County Public Library announced the return of Explore-A-Story, a hands-on literacy event for children ages 0-5 and their parents or guardians, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This event will feature a storytime reading of ¡Fiesta! A Festival of Colors by Duncan Tonatiuh with a performance by the Tierra Viva Mexican Folkloric Dance Group.
The event will take place at the Main Library’s Community Learning Center.
Attendees can expect breakout sessions filled with storytelling, crafts, music, and more.
Organizers say there will also be hands-on activities designed to support components of early literacy development, helping kids learn through play and interaction.
Costume character Curious George will stop by to visit between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., alongside face painting, food trucks, and book giveaways.
"Our goal is to create positive, engaging experiences with books that build early literacy skills,” said Daniel Lichty, Communications Manager. “Explore-A-Story combines play, storytelling, and hands-on activities that support young children’s growth while bringing families together to enjoy and learn."
The free event is open to the public at 305 S. Main St.
