Fans react to Shrewsberry, his coaching experience and homecoming

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The University of Notre Dame is said to be finalizing a deal to hire Penn State University men's basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry as the next Irish men's basketball head coach, according to ESPN.

Sources told ESPN Shrewsberry will be signed on for a seven-year contract.

Shrewsberry is an Indianapolis native and spent his first two seasons as a head coach at Indiana University South Bend.

Before taking the job at Penn State in 2021, Shrewsberry was on staff at Butler University, Purdue University and the Boston Celtics.

Shrewsberry would be replacing Mike Brey, who stepped down as head coach of the Irish after 23 seasons.
