Emotional vigil at Nfluence Church for Charlie Kirk

NOW: Emotional vigil at Nfluence Church for Charlie Kirk

GRANGER, Ind. -- As answers are brought to light piece by piece, many across the nation mourn the death of conservative political activist, especially those who knew him, like local pastor at Nfluence Church, Lucas Miles.

To pray together for Kirk, his family, and the nation, the church came together Fri. evening for a vigil in honor of Kirk’s memory.

"He was willing to put himself, literally, in harm’s way every single day for what he believed in. A lot of people have called Charlie a conservative commentator or conservative activist, it’s not the right title. He was a Christian," said pastor Miles while on stage in front of hundreds of church members.

Pastor Miles first heard of him when Kirk was just starting out as a teen. Pastor Miles explained he met him a short time later through the National Religious Broadcasters Organization. Their faith-based relationship grew, Pastor Miles eventually becoming the senior director of Turning Point USA Faith.

"I’m not used to having someone who’s younger than me… who can lead me the way that he did. Everything that I ever needed in my role he was there for… he just found people that he could trust and he empowered them to do a job," said Pastor Miles.

For this weekend’s Sunday service, pastor Miles said it may be the most important message he has ever preached. To learn more information, click here.
