UPDATE: The School City of Mishawaka announced power has been restored to Emmons and LaSalle Elementary Schools.

Officials say the school day will now continue as normal, however, if parents are already on their way to pick up their children, they will continue to release them to their parents.

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The School City of Mishawaka announced via social media that Emmons and LaSalle Elementary Schools are letting students out at 12:30 p.m. Thursday due to power outages.

School officials note this only applies to students at Emmons and LaSalle.

If you need to contact the school, you will need to do so through ParentSquare, officials said.

The district initially posted on social media around 10:48 a.m. that the schools were without power and phone lines were down for all district schools.

Parents are encouraged to pick up kids if possible.
