ELKHART, Ind. – The King Gyros in Elkhart said that they will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to give out free meals and provide a little company for the community.
The restaurant is encouraging anyone who is in need to stop by.
Ari, who owns the restaurant, said it is all about helping people.
“There’re a lot of lonely people,” Ari said. “It’s not only about money. It’s about company, it’s about celebration, it’s about being with somebody during a special time on a special day. So everybody is included.”
The food they will be giving out includes turkey, rice, mashed potatoes, salad and a dessert.
Employees of the restaurant will also be working for free, but they say the experience is rewarding in itself.
