Local dance company promotes healthy social media habits to students
ELKHART, Ind.—The Elkhart Police Department is conducting an investigation after a mother reported a man in a van offered her children candy at a car wash on Thursday.
On December 5 around 7:21 p.m., officers were sent to a car wash in the 2600 block of S. Nappanee St.
A woman reported that she and her 8-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son were cleaning their vehicle when she looked over to see a white male, between 60 and 70-years-old with a gray beard and marks or scarring on his cheeks.
The man was sitting in the driver’s seat of a late 90s, tan, GMC Safari van, with his arm out the window and candy in his hand talking to the children, the mother told police.
Reports said the mother yelled at the man and he drove off.
Police are investigating the incident and asks that anyone with information about the suspect or vehicle call Det. Phillips at 574-389-4728 or the Elkhart Police Department at 574-295-7070.
