ELKHART, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Elkhart Police Department announced their phone system is now back up.

For non-emergencies, the public can call 574-295-7070.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Elkhart Police Department announced they're experiencing phone system issues Tuesday morning.

Police say they're working to address it and if you're experiencing a non-emergency and require EPD assistance, to call dispatch at the Communications Center at 574-293-2175.

Dispatch will then contact an officer.

Police say the phone issue is not affecting the Communications Center, and 911 for emergencies is still working fine.

If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911.
