UPDATE: Elkhart Police Department phone issues resolved Friday

UPDATE: EPD announced their phone system is back up as of 4 p.m. Friday.

For non-emergencies, the public can once again call 574-295-7070.

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department announced their phone system is currently experiencing difficulties as of 2:18 p.m. Friday.

If you are experiencing a non-emergency and require EPD assistance, you're asked to call dispatch at the Communications Center at 574-293-2175.

Dispatch will then contact an officer.

Police say the phone issue is not affecting the Communications Center, and 911 for emergencies is working fine.

Authorities are working to address the issue.

EPD will notify the public when the issue is resolved.
