ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 30-year-old Elkhart man is facing a plethora of charges after an Indiana State Trooper stopped him on the Indiana Toll Road Monday night for driving a stolen van with a missing front tire.

Indiana State Police report around 8:45 p.m., a trooper patrolling the westbound lanes near mile-marker 77 witnessed a brown Chevrolet van driving east without a front left tire.

Police say a shower of sparks were being thrown as the van drove on its rim.

The trooper then made a traffic stop around mile-marker 78.4.

The driver was identified at Antoine Deberry. At this point the trooper noted there was an open can of Cutwater Margarita in the cupholder and she suspected Deberry may be intoxicated. 

After a roadside investigation for drunk driving, Deberry was taken to a local hospital for a certified chemical test.

The investigation also determined the van had been reported stolen out of Elkhart County.

Deberry was arrested and charged with Auto Theft, a Level 6 Felony, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated-Endangerment, a Level 6 Felony, Operating While Intoxicated-Prior, a Level 6 Felony, Driving While Suspended, a Class A-Misdemeanor, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Ever Receiving a License, a Class C-Misdemeanor. 

Deberry was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.
