Elkhart High School breaks ground on new Health and Strength Facility
ELKHART, Ind. -- A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the new Health and Strength Facility coming to Elkhart High School.
The 18,000-square-foot facility will have weightlifting and cardio workout rooms, plus classrooms for health, nutrition, yoga, and mental health.
Plans also include both an indoor and outdoor turf for student athletes. While the facility will primarily be used by high school students, all Elkhart athletic programs will be able to utilize the new space.
"The gymnasiums and field houses are all very busy, very active, with all of our varsity sports and with our PE classes," stated Brian Buckley, one of the athletic directors for Elkhart Community Schools. "This is a much-needed addition to give us some more space to spread out and to be able to offer more opportunities."
Construction is expected to start soon and will take approximately a year. They hope to have the building fully operational by January 2026.
