Elkhart Family Fish Fest lures in local community

ELKHART, Ind. -- The City of Elkhart will be hosting the Elkhart Family Fish Fest in Downtown Elkhart on Saturday, June 4. This free event includes a day-long Fishing Derby and a Fish-Themed Picnic later in the evening.  

Registration for the Fishing Derby begins at 7 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. at the Nibco Water and Ice Park. Fishing ends at 5 p.m. with an Award Ceremony and a drawing of prizes at 7 p.m. at Central Park.  

Those competing can form teams with family and friends with awards being presented to a number of age categories. Free bait, tackle and fishing poles will be available for use.  

The Fish-themed Picnic will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Central Park. Attractions include live music, a beer garden and fish dinners available to buy from Jonah Fish Fry.  

There will also be a Kids Zone with activities like lure painting, minnow races, casting activities and Jumbo Games.
