Elkhart County Parks to lead Sandhill Crane Trip Nov. 23

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Elkhart County Parks announced it will lead a Sandhill Crane Trip on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife area in Medaryville, Ind. from 3 to 8 p.m.

Also known as "Indiana's Dancing Bird," the Sandhill Crane's largest concentration resides in Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife area.

Organizers say during migration over 30,000 cranes can be seen in this area.

The program fee is $5 and pre-registration is required. You can contact Andy Langdon, Interpretive Naturalist, at [email protected] 574-875-7422 to register.

The enrollment deadline is Thursday.

Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and cameras.

Organizers can provide transportation to the first 10 participants. All others will have to provide their own transportation or carpool. The drive is less than two hours.

Participants will meet at Ox Bow Haus Shelter in Ox Bow County Park, located at 23033 C.R.45 in Dunlap.

Park admission will be waived for program participants
