Elkhart County deputies investigating disposal of dead animals at residence on U.S. Hwy 20

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office is investigating after deputies found dead animals at a residence in the 19000 block of U.S. Highway 20.

Deputies were originally called to the area on a report of loose animals.

When they arrived, law enforcement found a dead horse and goat on the property.

Deputies have since launched an investigation, alongside the Elkhart County Humane Society, into the care and proper disposal of dead animals at the property.

The man who lives there, identified as Josiah Wingard, was not at the property at the time of the initial call and law enforcement is still looking for him.

Wingard has an active felony warrant for failure to properly dispose of dead animals that is unrelated to the sheriff's office investigation.
