ELKHART, Ind. -- The City of Elkhart is celebrating the completion of a railroad crossing resurfacing project that was done to improve safety at the intersection of S.R. 19 and Nappanee Street.
City officials say in partnership with the Indiana Department of Transportation and Patriot Rail, the work on the crossing began on July 22 and was completed on Saturday.
“We have received so much positive feedback from residents following the resurfacing of these railroad crossings. It has made driving around this city much safer and easier,” said Mayor Rod Roberson. “Thankful to our staff and the work they have done working with the railroad and INDOT to make this happen and for the patience of our constituents. Can’t wait to celebrate when the Blazer & Richmond crossing is resurfaced as well. Hopefully that announcement is coming soon.”
