GOSHEN, Ind. -- An eight-year-old boy was severely injured during a rollover crash Thursday night, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say 28-year-old Victor Millan Soto was driving East on County Road 30 between County Road 9 and County Road 11 at a high rate of speed.

Officials report that Soto lost control while attempting to pass another vehicle, causing the car to crash, rolling several times before landing on its roof.

Soto received lacerations to his face as well as bruising to most of his body. His eight-year-old son, who was also in the vehicle, suffered major injuries including multiple brain bleeds, skull fractures and lacerations to his leg.

The boy was first transferred to Elkhart General Hospital, then to South Bend Memorial.

Deputies say Soto displayed multiple signs of intoxication, including a BAC of .110 and failure to complete field sobriety tests.

Soto has been arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on multiple preliminary charges, including an OWI causing bodily injury, OWI with a passenger less than 18-years-old, reckless driving and neglect of a dependent.
