ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Elkhart Community Schools has received more than $30,000 in grants thanks to the Elkhart Education Foundation.
The foundation offers two types of grants. The Extracurricular Grant breaksdown student barriers, encouraging student participation in extracurricular activities while improving grades, attendance and test scores.
Educators will also receive funds through the Innovative Teaching Grant to improve the tools teachers use in the classroom at no cost to themselves.
Elkhart Education Foundation Co-Founder Ashley Boling Molyneaux said, “We don’t think that they should always have to pull money out of their own pockets all the time, you know, we don’t ask doctors to take their medical equipment to work with them. “ She adds, “You know, it’s kind of silly to think that they have to buy their own teaching supplies all the time, and they really do.”
So far, more than $1,000,000 has been distributed to Elkhart Schools since 2014.
