Dry August in South Bend
Right now this August is the 6th driest on record in South Bend history, though we still do just over ten days left in the month, but after a fairly dry week last week, we aren’t expecting too much more to be coming our way. This week is looking fair, low precipitation chances but hopefully we do get something, last years longest dry streak started a year ago yesterday, and we would not like to repeat that. Hopefully we get a little bit of rain as we round out this month, but it’s still looking like we are going to have one of the drier August’s on our hands.
Thanks to a couple of tropical systems the east coast has been seeing a lot of water. Here are the top five cities in America that have seen the most rainfall this month. All of these totals were impacted by Tropical Storm Debby as it made its way through Florida and into the Carolina’s. Ernesto didn’t bring as much rain to the states as we thought, but it has still caused high waters on the east coast. If we take a look at the next couple of weeks, these areas are still expected to get more precipitation, in what is already a record-breaking August.
