ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department announced they've identified the driver who ignored the flashing lights and stop signs on a Penn-Harris-Madison school bus and nearly hit two kids waiting to get on.

The driver has been identified as 23-year-old Shau-Ri Sparkle Rae Rose.

Authorities say Rose took responsibility by contacting the police department and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged Rose with 2 Felony counts of Criminal Recklessness.

Court documents state FLOCK cameras located a possible match to the suspect vehicle.

Authorities ran the license plate which was found to belong to Rose.

Police then saw a photo of Rose which matched the suspect driver's description.

Documents state Rose was then located. Police advised her they were investigating the incident of a red sedan going around a school bus and nearly striking two children.

Police say Rose immediately admitted she was the driver of the red sedan.

She was advised of her Miranda rights and agreed to speak with law enforcement.

Rose told police she was taking her son to daycare on the morning of the incident and that her son unstrapped himself from the car seat.

She stated she looked back to instruct him to get back in the car seat, and when she turned around, she noticed that the bus was stopped and shew was unable to stop and went around the bus on the right.

Rose continued, stating she tried to stop but her brakes were not working well.

She told police after she saw the video on social media, she attempted to call St. Joseph County Police Department but was unsuccessful.

Police then reviewed her call history and observed two outgoing phone calls to SJCPD.

She is currently not in police custody, but a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
