Driver accidentally accelerates, ends up on railroad tracks

DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- A man who was using a drive-up ATM drove his car through a fence and onto the railroad tracks nearby, according to Dowagiac Police.

Police were dispatched to the railroad tracks near Depot Drive and Commercial Street around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The investigation revealed the 73-year-old driver was leaning out of his vehicle while using the drive-up ATM when he accidentally accelerated and drove through the parking lot, across Depot Drive, through a fence and onto the railroad tracks.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
