Dozen gather outside St. Joseph County Courthouse Wednesday evening

ABC 57

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- ABC57 is at the St. Joseph County Courthouse tonight where nearly 50 people have gathered to protest a myriad of topics, the main one being deportation.

People are holding signs that read “No human being is illegal on stolen land,” "My parents are not criminal 4 wanting to give me a better life,” and "Education not Deportation."

The main theme of the rally seems to be protesting the executive orders signed by President Trump over the last week, empowering the U.S. office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Earlier this week, Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed an executive order declaring that all Indiana authorities comply with ICE and Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is currently suing St Joseph County for not complying and cooperating with ICE.

There are also signs at the rally that read "Remember, your 1st home was a woman," and "Her body, her choice."
