Arrests made in double shooting in Mishawaka
Mishawaka, Ind – Mishawaka police say they have made two arrests in a double-shooting near Chili’s restaurant on Grape Road.
Bryce Morgan Riley Dehner, 21, was arrested and booked Thursday morning into the St. Joseph County Jail on preliminary suspicion of committing: four counts of Attempted Murder; two counts of Battery with a Deadly Weapon; and one count of Criminal Recklessness.
Austyn Alexander Brooks, 22, was arrested and booked Thursday morning into the St. Joseph County Jail on preliminary suspicion of committing: four counts of Attempted Murder; two counts of Battery with a Deadly Weapon; and one count of Criminal Recklessness.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office says those charges are under review and no formal criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The Mishawaka assistant police chief tells ABC 57 News the shooting was reported Wednesday evening at 10:10 p.m.
According to police, a person was driving northbound on Grape Road and opened fire on another driver near Chili’s.
One of the shooters was shot and injured. An innocent woman was also shot. Police say both shooting victims were rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police tell ABC 57 the woman was simply “at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
A manager at TGI Friday’s tells Evening Anchor Brian Dorman that a driver pulled up and just started shooting. He confirmed that none of his employees were injured. Friday’s, which was supposed to be open until Midnight, was closed early because of the shooting. The manager said Friday’s will be open again Thursday morning at 11 a.m.
