The La Porte County Sheriff's Office is warning the public about a man who is impersonating a police officer and pulled over a driver on US 20.
Thursday morning, a woman reported being stopped by what she thought was a police vehicle while driving on US 20.
She told police a light colored Ford Focus or Toyota Prius was driving behind her with red and blue flashing lights. She stopped her vehicle thinking it was an officer.
A white male, 6 feet tall, wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, a black baseball cap and a mask bearing the logo of the Michigan City Police Department got out of the vehicle and approached the victim.
After speaking with him, the woman because suspicious and refused to provide him with any documents or information, reports said.
The man got back into his vehicle and drove away, reports said.
