Crash with cement truck leaves 81-year-old Plymouth man seriously injured
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police reports officers responded to a serious crash around 10 a.m., Friday, involving a passenger car and cement truck on West 12 B Road near King Road.
Authorities say officers arrived within minutes to find the driver of the car entrapped with serious injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a red 2012 Ford passenger car, driven by 81-year-old Robert Dragani of Plymouth, was travelling east in the 10000 block of West 12 B Road when it crossed the center line and crashed into a red 2007 cement truck travelling west.
Authorities say the front left corner of the Ford collided with the front left corner of the cement truck, entrapping Dragani.
The report states the crash caused the Ford to rotate, coming to a rest facing north in the eastbound lane of West 12 B Road.
The driver of the cement truck, Garrett Sallee Jr., was not injured.
Police say Sallee submitted to a chemical test as required by Indiana statute for drivers involved in serious bodily injury and fatal crashes.
Dragani was flown by helicopter to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Neither alcohol, nor drugs are suspected to be factors in this crash.
Evidence gathered at the scene by authorities indicates Dragani was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
West 12 B Road was temporarily closed but re-opened at around 11:39 a.m. after the crash investigation and removal of the vehicles.
