Committee appoints new Register of Deeds

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Register of Deeds Appointment Committee has appointed Lora Freehling to the position of Berrien County Register of Deeds.

The committee was formed to fill the vacancy left by the death of Lori Jarvis.

The committee was made up of the Presiding Probate Judge Mabel J. Mayfield, County Clerk Sharon Tyler, and Prosecuting Attorney Michael Sepic.

Freehling will begin her duties October 15 and will fill the position until the end of Jarvis' term, December 31, 2020.

The committee interviewed four candidates, including Freehling, Stephanie Bean, Lee Lull and Rhonda Rockhill.
