NILES, Mich. -- Residents of the city of Niles are pushing for a new splash pad to be built for public use.
City officials say that the estimated cost for a splash pad would be between $450,000 and $600,000.
According to the city, it could cost approximately $20,000 in water maintenance and upkeep per year, depending on the size.
Niles Mayor, Nick Shelton, has reached out to community members on social media to ask if residents would rather put the project on the November ballot to help pay for the pad.
