BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Children have the chance to ride their bikes alongside state troopers and learn bicycle safety and mechanics at Benton Harbor’s second "Bike with a Cop" event on July 7. Attendees may even come home with a new bike.
Michigan State Police and the Boys and Girls Club of Benton Harbor have partnered to host the event.
It will be held on Wednesday, July 7 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m at the Boys and Girls Club on Nate Wells Sr. Drive in Benton Harbor.
Children ages 5-12 and their parents are welcome to attend. They can ride their bikes with Michigan State troopers and participate in bike drills.
Michigan State Police Office will be raffling off bikes at the event.
Prior to the ride, a brief bicycle safety lesson will be offered.
Bike mechanics from the local non-profit, Cycle-Re-Cycle, will be available to assist in minor bike repairs.
Food will be provided by Blue Roof Church.
