Chicago man arrested for allegedly practicing medicine without a license in Warsaw

Kosciusko County Jail

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A Chicago man is facing multiple felony charges after prosecutors say he practiced medicine without a license in Warsaw.

Michael Close received four charges, including two felony counts of Practicing Medicine without a License, as well as Unlawful Possession or Use of a Legend Drug and a misdemeanor Battery charge. Warsaw Police say they received information that Close was allegedly giving a patient unauthorized treatments at the patient's home. Upon arrival, Close allegedly told officers that he gave injections to the patient, and that his medical license in Illinois was expired. He also allegedly admitted he never received a license to practice medicine in Indiana.

Officers searched Close's car, where they say they found multiple prescription drugs, including the antidepressant Trazodone. Detectives later spoke with another person, who claims Close administered treatment to two other patients at this person's home.

His initial hearing is scheduled for May 7.
