Car left scene after it was struck by train at Laurel Street crossing, police say

MISHAWAKA, Ind.—Mishawaka Police officers responded to a crash involving a train and a car at the Laurel Street crossing on Friday morning. 

On May 8, around 10 a.m., officers with the Mishawaka Police Department were sent to the Norfolk Southern Rail Road Tracks at the Laurel Street crossing in regarding a crash involving a train and a car.

Officers learned that the car that was struck by the train had left the scene but police were able to locate it shortly after the crash.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified and interviewed by police.

According to police, the driver of the car was not injured in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation and will be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office.
