We'll start the day cloudy and chilly, but you can expect a bit of sunshine with highs above freezing this afternoon. Quiet weather continues today and will last through tomorrow before active weather takes over the end of the week into the weekend. A major winter storm will bring precipitation on Thursday, starting as a rain/snow mix with the potential for some freezing rain, turning over to snow that night. It looks like ice accumulation should be minimal and snow accumulations should stay less than an inch. Travel will be hazardous all day long. Friday will be the worst day for any travel with heavy, blowing snow and winds gusting over 45 mph. The combination of heavy snow and strong winds will create blizzard-like conditions, making travel extremely difficult if not impossible at times. Snow will be continuing into Saturday, but the weekend will bring another hazard to worry about - dangerously cold wind chills. With strong winds and highs in the lower teens, wind chills could drop more than 20 degrees below zero. Snow moves out by Sunday, but arctic air stays with us into next week.
Today: AM clouds, PM sun. High 35.
